What is it and how does it work?
What is counselling? Counselling is a talking therapy. You are given a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space to discuss your problems. Different people come for different reasons but in general most people come because they want to change something in their life or think about their thoughts and feelings. Counselling helps to find the root cause of a problem.
How long are the sessions? Each session is 50 minutes long.
How often should I come? It is usual practice to attend at least once a week which is the recommended minimum amount however, in rare exceptions Carmel is able to meet for fortnightly sessions if that is preferred. Some clients require two sessions each week which again, Carmel is also able to facilitate.
How many sessions do I need? Most people come for open ended counselling and psychotherapy sessions so there is no planned end date therefore, you can come for as long as you feel you need to. Some people may want to agree on a set amount of counselling and psychotherapy sessions and if that is what you would prefer, Carmel is able to accommodate this.
Where are you based? Carmel works from several clinics in the Brighton area therefore, she can usually offer you a choice of location depending upon where you live and what is convenient for you. She mainly works from The Rock Clinic in Kemptown, opposite LIDLs.
